Many people are feeling concerned about the spread of the coronavirus.

The NHS website has relevant advice and information about this:  NHS Advice

If you have questions about travelling there is information about what to do NHS advice for travellers

Advice may be subject to change so it is important to check tne national websites.  Currently people with symptoms are no longer required to call NHS 111, as the system is under strain, but are instead urged to look for information on the NHS website and 111 online.   We all should:

Practice good hygiene:

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • always wash your hands when you get home or into work
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

Stay at home for  7 days if you are a single person household or 14 days if you or someone in your household have either:

  • a high temperature (over 37.8 degrees Celsius or above)
  • a new, continuous cough

The NHS are currently asking that we do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

Swindon Borough Council has also made live a webpage on the borough website signposting to the latest advice: www.swindon.gov.uk/coronavirus
