Every year, the Parish Council sets a precept which is the amount it asks Swindon Borough Council to collect for the Parish through the Council tax.
The Parish Council agrees a budget for the year and Swindon Borough Council works out how much this will cost for each household depending on their council tax band. This year, the Parish Council raised the overall precept by 3% which meant a 3.56% increase on a Band D property.
The amount you are paying to West Swindon Parish Council will be listed on your Council Tax bill. This money will help the Parish Council to deliver services that are important to local people such as grass cutting, grounds maintenance, play areas and street cleaning.
A breakdown of expenditure is attached below.. This is not exact but it will give you a good indication of the key areas of expenditure.
