WEST SWINDON PARISH COUNCIL
18.5 hours per week to include occasional evening work
Local Government Scale 23 to 29 Salary band: £21,268 to £25,951 pro rata per annum depending on qualifications and experience.
West Swindon is a newly elected Parish Council formed 18 May 2017.
The Parish Council has 15 Councillors serving a population c. 28,000. West Swindon is a green urban parish and as a result, the Parish Council strives to maintain and improve public open spaces and outdoor amenities. The Parish Council is responsible for maintenance of the allotments, play areas, grounds maintenance, and street cleaning, with further responsibilities being reviewed by the Parish.
As a new and modern Parish, the Assistant Clerk will support the Clerk/Parish Manager to run the administration of the Parish Council effectively and efficiently. This will also require covering the holiday absence of the Clerk/Parish Manager including periods across the school holidays.
This job holder will
Prepare reports and documents as required
Assist in the production of Agendas and Minutes of the Council
Assist in the maintenance of financial records
Create and maintain relevant administrative procedures to ensure work is carried out in an efficient and accurate manner
Coordinate and promote volunteering within the Parish
Help develop projects and campaigns for the Parish Council
The successful candidate will have confident verbal and written communication skills, proven relevant office experience, and be conversant in Microsoft Office.
