Being physically and socially active can have a genuine and long lasting impact on our health and wellbeing.  Across West Swindon there are many ways that you can enjoy physical activities and group social activities

Local ways to be active:


Adult Fitness Equipment

We have a mix of outdoor adult fitness equipment available for use in Shaw Ridge (SN5 5QB), Mead Park (SN5 8QA) and a new set has recently been installed at Middleleaze (SN5 5TQ)

 

Fitness and Friendship Club 

Newly arranged by Age UK, at Toothill Community Centre, Dunwich Drive, Toothill.

Involves seated and standing exercise, gentle tai chi, indoor games

Alternate Tuesdays, 10-12 noon

£4 (includes tea/coffee)

Walking

Walking is an easy way to achieve the NHS recommended 10,000 steps a day - the beauty of walking is that you can do it at your own pace, in your own time, without needing specialist equipment.  If you are unsure about your fitness, talk to your Doctor or local nurse for advice first.

Walking groups - Weekly Walks

Monday 2pm - Shaw Health Walk. 2-3 miles (40-50 minutes) from Lower Shaw Farm.

Tuesday 10am - Toothill Health Walk. 2-3 miles (40-50 minutes) from Toothill Community Centre

Friday 10am - West Swindon Health Walk. 2-3 miles (40-50 minutes) from The Link Centre

Litter picking

Many of our volunteer litter pickers choose a walking route that suits them and keep themselves fit and active whilst making a big difference to local neighbourhoods.  If you'd like to know more about local litter picking, please contact the Parish Office.
