Allotments

Allotments have become a great place to escape to, to relieve the stresses of everyday life. Having an allotment is a great way of getting your hands on valuable gardening space, meet fellow allotment holders as well as being a relaxing, sociable way to garden and there's always something new to learn.

Benefits gained from having an allotment include:

  • Physical exercise which is a great stress reliever and a good way to relax.
  • Growing fresh tasty fruits, vegetables and beautiful flowers.
  • Meeting people with the same interests and sharing valuable advice.
  • Having your own space to create and develop new gardening ideas.
  • Gaining a great sense of achievement.
  • Getting the rest of the family involved, especially children, out in the fresh air.
  • The satisfaction of growing something from seed, to put food on your table and being able to say, "I grew that".  We all know the health benefits of eating home grown fruit and vegetables and it's great for people of all ages and abilities to get involved.

We have one allotment site situated behind Blagrove Industrial Estate, consisting of 37 half plots.

There is a waiting list, however please contact the Parish Office using the Request a Service button above and we will add you to the list. Once you are on the list we will be able to keep you updated on progress to get you a plot.

As there will be a wait for an allotment to become available, you could also try Stoney Allotments in Pavenhill, Purton. This is a not-for-profit allotment organisation based a short distance from West Swindon.

Alternatively it may be worth contacting one of the other Parish Council's who have allotment sites within a short distance of West Swindon to check availability. These include:
